American Chopsuey

American Chopsuey is a yummy American recipe. Most of us would think that American dish will be little complicate to handle. But it is very simple dish. It is prepared using noodles and vegetables along with sauce.

Ingredients:

2 carrot, cut into thick pieces

10 french beans, cut into small pieces

3 onions, cut  each into 8 pieces

5 babycorns, cut it diagonally into three pieces

1 cup cabbage

2 green bell peppers, cut each into 8 pieces

1 1/2 tsps chilli sauce

1 tsp soya sauce

1 1/2 tbsps tomato sauce

3/4 tbsp vinegar

1 tsp brown sugar

1 1/2 tbsps cornflour mixed with 1 cup water

required salt to taste

peanut oil

black pepper powder to season

 

For fried noodles:

  •  3 cups par-boiled noodles, drained and dried on a kitchen towel, sprinkle a tbsp of cornflour and mix.
  • oil for deep frying.
  • Initially,boil a liter of water with 1/2 tsp salt. Add cabbage,beans and carrot to the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes until it is partly cooked. Remove from heat, strain and pour cold water over the vegetables and separate it.
  • Heat oil in a large vessel,once the oil is hot, add the onions and saute on high for 2-3 mts.
  • Add the capsicum and baby corn and saute for 5 mins. Add the vegetables which is partly cooked and saute for another 3 minutes.
  • Add soya sauce, chilli sauce,vinegar, black pepper,tomato sauce,sugar and salt and mix it. Add 2 ½ cups of water and bring it to boil. Reduce flame and cook for 3-4 mts in a medium flame.
  •  Add the corn flour along with water and stir it continuously till it become slightly thick and add the vegetables. Remove from heat and keep aside. To prepare fried noodles,   the heat oil for deep frying in a heavy bottomed vessel. Once hot,reduce to medium and place around 1 1/2 cups of noodles and cook till it turns golden brown. Take out from vessel.
  •  To serve, place the fried noodles on a plate. Ladle the vegetables over the bed of fried noodles and top with a fried egg if u wish. Now the delicious, warm American Chop Suey is ready.
